Backend is a series of sessions around the UK, looking at the logistics and processes of how artist-led organisations work – “our backends” – because they are important for structural change as opposed to performing short term solutions. Through sharing practice, experiences and aspirations, together we aim to devise some sort of collaborative “code of conduct” that can be used as a public resource and to hold ourselves accountable.
The Art House is pleased to be hosting the third event in the series with Gill Crawshaw, Kyla Harris and members of Association of Queer Ethnic Minorities: Larry, April and Emmanuel. The session will focus on ways to overcome and remove the invisible, organisational and physical hurdles that restrict access to artist-led activity for underrepresented people. Everyone will have the chance to share and question what they are currently doing, and collectively devise actions, guidelines and policies for artist led organisations.
During the event 12o are able to provide free childcare for children age 4+. If you need childcare for the event please email firstname.lastname@example.org to confirm a space. The volunteer childminder is not able to look after under 4s but they are welcome to attend the event with you. Unfortunately, childcare cannot be provided if you’ve booked after 18th May, as the details have to be confirmed with the childminder one week before the event date.
The Art House is a wheelchair accessible venue and has accessible toilets. For more about our accessible building info visit: the-arthouse.org.uk/about/access/
