Vacancy: Bookkeeper

Bookkeepers Rock.  Yes, we know how essential you are to keeping our organisation productive and humming. Without you, we wouldn’t be able to deliver the kind of creative, high quality, high impact work for artists, creatives and the community that we do.

If you like a humming, creative, collaborative, diverse and slightly zany place to work in, then we just might be for you.  If you want to work for an organisation that believes in making our community better, our world fairer, and our cappuccinos with oat milk, then look no farther.

The Art House is looking for a talented bookkeeper to join our team.  You will know that creativity matters in a diverse world, but that in order to run a highly productive and professional arts charity, Sage entries, management accounts and financial procedures need to be accurate, precise, and timely.

You definitely won’t be shunted away in a lone corner somewhere.  You’ll be at the heart of the action, working to our Admin Director and CEO, alongside our vibrant staff to help them monitor their budgets for everything from our Artist Residencies to our Studio of Sanctuary and Arts and Health programmes.

We’re looking for someone to work 2 days a week, and who could ideally start immediately.  Over the next year, we may also want to increase those hours.  We’d like you to grow with us.  And we also hope you like (or at least will tolerate) dogs, because we bring ours to the office.

The Art House is an Equal Opportunity employer and the ethos of respect and compassion for each other and the communities we work with runs through everything we do.

We pay Real Living Wage, provide a Cycle to Work Scheme and a Staff Wellbeing programme. We are also a fun and interesting place to work and we think you’d enjoy it here.

Reporting to:          CEO and Admin Director
Salary:                      £21-23k Per Annum (Based on experience, pro-rata)
Working Hours:     Part-Time (up to 16.5 Hours Per Week)
Holiday:                   11 Days per annum plus Bank Holidays
Location:                 The Art House, Drury Lane, Wakefield, WF1 2TE
