This workshop runs on multiple dates. Tickets are per date if you would like to do multiple sessions you require a ticket for each session.
Explore a taster of what darkroom printing is all about. In this evening taster class, you will gain beginner’s knowledge of how to print from your own negatives in the darkroom, leaving with your own hand printed silver gelatin photograph. This workshop is an excellent precursor to one of our other darkroom printing workshops.
We’ll start the workshop by expanding on the process of darkroom printing, helping you to understand the workings of an enlarger and the chemical processes. We’ll then promptly move on to a more hands on experience of printing from your own negatives.
All darkroom based workshops are classes up to five, allowing for a more focused small group learning experience with our tutor.
This evening taster class is tutored by our Darkroom Technician Niamh Donnelly, a practicing professional photographer in her own right and is on hand to ensure a supported, friendly and enjoyable environment when learning a new skill.
What will the students make?
You will leave this workshop having processed a roll of your own film and feeling confident in coming back to print in our facilities (or at home) again
Who is the course for?
This course is best suited to those who need a bit of a refresher on darkroom printing or those who are totally new to doing it themselves. You need to have exposed and processed your own roll of film beforehand, so understanding how to shoot with film is important prior to this workshop. Should you need support with this, our Analogue Photowalk is a great opportunity to get to grips with shooting film.
Do the students need to bring anything?
Students must bring a roll of exposed and processed film, either 35mm or 120mm, which is ready to be processed.
We have made some changes to ensure everyone feels confident and safe to come and join in without fear of catching Coronavirus. Our courses are running with fewer participants to allow plenty of room for social distancing. We are also requesting that students attend with a mask or face covering. If you have any concerns or specific requirements regarding attending a course please feel free to get in touch with us by emailing email@example.com
Workshop and course bookings can be cancelled and refunded up until 7 days before the scheduled start date. Our workshops support the work we do as a charity, and because materials and equipment are ordered in advance, we regret that refunds cannot be offered less than 7 days before the workshop date. Please note that Eventbrite’s booking fee is non-refundable.
Bookings cannot be transferred between courses however bookings can be transferred to another person in the event that you are unable to attend on the day.
In the event that The Art House needs to cancel a workshop for any reason, for example due to tutor illness or if lockdown measures are put back in place your ticket will be refunded in full.
