This workshop runs on multiple dates. Tickets are per date if you would like to do multiple sessions you require a ticket for each session
During the workshop, participants will explore the process and approach of making analogue photographs, developing their film and printing in the darkroom – all with the use of plant-based developer.
The day will begin with an introduction into, your tutor, Nick’s practice and an insight into plant-based alternatives for your developer. The group will then embark on a local photowalk, with a 35mm camera provided (or your own 35mm camera if you prefer) and roll of film (also provided). After finishing the roll of film, you’ll return to The Art House for a lunch break, before moving on to discussing the process and science behind making a DIY plant-based developer. You will then develop your film with Nick’s support and once dry, begin printing in the darkroom with your new developer – ready to take your prints home.
All darkroom-based workshops are classes of up to five, allowing for a more focused small group learning experience with our tutor.
What will the students make?
As a participant, you’ll come away with an understanding of producing and using your own plant-based developer, a roll of processed 35mm film and a handmade 8x10" print.
