Printing from gelatine plates, known as Gelli plates, is a form of monoprinting without the need for a press. It is quick and playful and can produce some interesting textures and patterns in prints. The process uses water-based inks and mark-making tools to create overprinted layers. Gelatine plates are easy to make and you’ll also be given instructions on how to make the plates at home.
You will come away from the workshop with a range of different monoprints from the gelatine plates, printed onto A4 cartridge paper.
Who is the course for?
For those who have previous printmaking skills this will be an opportunity to learn a new and interesting technique, although no previous experience is necessary and complete beginners may also attend. An ideal workshop for those who have completed our Introduction to Printmaking course and wish to continue developing their skills.
Do I need to bring anything?
All materials and equipment will be provided. If you have any of your own materials such as threads, leaves, lace, doilies etc, feel free to bring them along with you. You will also be given a set of workshop notes on making the gelatine plates.
Workshop and course bookings may be cancelled up to 10 working days before the scheduled start date. Our commercial workshops support the work we do as a charity, and because materials and equipment are ordered in advance, we regret that refunds cannot be offered less than ten working days before the workshop date.
In the event that The Art House needs to cancel a workshop, your ticket will be refunded in full.
Bookings cannot be transferred between courses however bookings can be transferred to another person in the event that you are unable to attend on the day.
