Spend a morning printing your very own Christmas cards.

Linocut is a traditional relief printing technique where a print is taken from the surface of a lino block. On this workshop you will learn how to use the tools, equipment and materials to get started in linocut. You’ll carve your own lino, use oil based inks and use our Albion relief printing press to make an edition of unique Christmas cards to send to friends and family. You’ll be guided through the process in a step by step way in our professional print studio.

  • Who is the workshop for?

This course is suitable for adults who are complete beginners or those who wish to refresh their previous skills. Those with an understanding of the process can use the day to develop their skills and gain tutor advice and guidance.

  • Do I need to bring anything?

Basic materials needed for the day will be provided. This will include lino, a range of ink colours and cards to print on. If you have an image, drawing or book which you’d like to take inspiration from feel free to bring it along. We recommend wearing older clothes in case you get a bit inky!

  • Working Safely

Our courses are running with fewer participants to allow plenty of room for social distancing. In line with government guidance we are also requesting that students attend with a mask or face covering. We hope that being able to immerse yourself with something creative will help to restore a sense of wellbeing and hopefulness as we navigate the new normal.
