Linocut is a traditional relief printing technique where a print is taken from the surface of a lino block. On this one day workshop you will learn how to use the tools, equipment and materials to get started or develop your skills in linocut. You’ll carve your own lino, use oil based inks and use our Albion relief printing press to make an edition of A4 prints. You’ll be guided through the process in a step by step way in our professional print studio.

  • Who is the workshop for?

This course is suitable for adults who are complete beginners or those who wish to refresh their previous skills. Those with an understanding of the process can use the day to develop their skills and gain tutor advice and guidance. The course is also ideal for those who have taken our Introduction to Printmaking course and wish to develop their skills.

  • Do I need to bring anything?

Basic materials needed for the day will be provided. This will include lino, a range of ink colours and cartridge paper. If you have an image, drawing or book which you’d like to take inspiration from feel free to bring it along, although examples of different linocuts will be available on the day. Refreshments will be provided but you may wish to bring some lunch along with you.

Workshop and course bookings may be cancelled up to 10 working days before the scheduled start date. Our commercial workshops support the work we do as a charity, and because materials and equipment are ordered in advance, we regret that refunds cannot be offered less than ten working days before the workshop date.

In the event that The Art House needs to cancel a workshop, your ticket will be refunded in full.

Bookings cannot be transferred between courses however bookings can be transferred to another person in the event that you are unable to attend on the day.
