Explore portraiture painting with the guidance of portrait artist Richard Kitson on this one day workshop.

You’ll paint a portrait from a reference image following step by step demonstrations. The aim will be to construct the portrait with a focus on facial proportions, starting with mid and dark tones and adding details and highlights as the painting progresses.

  • Who is the course for?

The workshop is suitable for complete beginners or those who would like to progress from drawing to using paints in their portraits. The course will be taught in a step by step way with tutor advice and guidance to build your confidence in drawing & painting

  • Do I need to bring anything?

Participants will need to bring some basic drawing materials and oil or acrylic paints. Some materials will be provided including easels & paper to work on. Refreshments including drinks & biscuits will be provided but participants are advised to bring some lunch along with them for the longer break.

Workshop and course bookings can be cancelled and refunded up until 7 days before the scheduled start date. Our workshops support the work we do as a charity, and because materials and equipment are ordered in advance, we regret that refunds cannot be offered less than 7 days before the workshop date. Please note that Eventbrite’s booking fee is non-refundable.

Bookings cannot be transferred between courses, however, bookings can be transferred to another person in the event that you are unable to attend on the day.

In the event that The Art House needs to cancel a workshop, your ticket will be refunded in full.
