This Heritage Open Day, we’ll be hosting an open house for visitors to explore the 127 year old Carnegie funded building. Selected studios will be open to showcase some of the building’s original features.
You’ll find a free family-friendly activity in our Darkroom running throughout the day, just drop-in to design your own photogram book cover.
There will also be informal guided tours of the library taking place. More details coming soon.
Heritage Open Day is also a great time to visit the latest exhibitions in our galleries, as well as stopping by our shop and coffee house which will be open throughout the day.
Have a memory you want to share?
We will also be audio recording visitors’ memories of the library to be compiled into an oral history for our archive. Whether you remember a loved one bringing you to the children’s library every weekend, you used to work in the building, or you happened to catch a Long Division gig in the empty building before it was converted into The Art House – we want to hear from you.
Plus, anyone who brings in a former Wakefield Library (Drury Lane specific) book when they visit gets a free drink in our coffee house!
Free entry, everyone welcome.
