Christopher Samuel

11 June 2024 - 15 June 2024

Christopher Samuel is a multi-disciplinary artist whose practice is rooted in identity and disability politics, often echoing the many facets of his own lived experience. His work tells stories, often raising awareness of his treatment as a Black disabled artist, missing representation within archives, and shared narratives from others in similar circumstances. This includes small detailed ink drawings, film, printing, research, and large installation based work.

Most recently he has been working on a commissioned project as part of 20/20 with Birmingham Museums Trust, and he is deep into planning a co-curated exhibition alongside Jennifer Gilbert titled ‘Kaleidoscopic Realms’ that opens at Nottingham Castle in June 2024.

Christopher is excited to come to The Arthouse Wakefield for a short print residency, funded by an Arts Council England DYCP grant.
