Try your hand at the graphic art of lino printing in this introductory workshop. You’ll learn how to design, carve, and print your own relief block using traditional lino-cutting tools and inks in our professional Print Studio.
We’ll cover safe carving techniques, image transferring, and inking methods before you create and print your own finished designs by hand. Perfect for beginners, this session is all about experimenting with line, texture, contrast and positive/negative images, while producing striking edition of prints to take home.
The workshop also gives you the opportunity to use our beautiful Albion relief printing press, restored to working condition and on long-term loan from Wakefield Museum.

Who is the course for?
This course is suitable for adults who are complete beginners or those who wish to refresh their previous skills in printmaking. You don’t need to feel confident with drawing as all the processes covered on this course lend themselves to great colour, shape and pattern exploration.
Do I need to bring anything?
All equipment and tools will be provided for you including various papers, plates, screens, inks and materials to explore all processes. Feel free to bring along sketchbooks, images or books for inspiration if you have any. We recommend wearing old clothes in case you get a bit inky! Please wear sensible shoes in the print studio – no sandals or high heels.
