Welcome to the Homeware Series! Join local ceramicist Hannah Way in our Ceramics Studio to create your own beautifully decorated sgraffito plate.
Using ceramic handbuilding techniques, you’ll shape and refine your own plate before exploring the traditional sgraffito decorating process. Working with coloured slips, you’ll learn how to carve through the surface to reveal contrasting layers beneath, creating patterns, botanical motifs, or your own unique designs.
You’ll work closely with our ceramics tutor to develop your piece, considering form, function, and decorative composition, before applying the finishing touches ready for glazing.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have created a one-of-a-kind ceramic plate to be glazed and kiln-fired by our studio team, ready to collect within three weeks.
If you really enjoy the workshop, and want to explore your passion for ceramics further, there’s the option to join as a ceramics member – find out more about ceramics membership here.
