We’re bringing you an enchanting space celebrating Wakefield’s most iconic vegetable. From Tuesday 18 to Sunday 23 February, The Art House has transformed its Tiled Gallery into a colourful haven of rhubarb-inspired delights, free activities for all ages, and creative exploration.

Savour the flavours of the season with our delicious rhubarb-inspired drinks and mouth-watering sweet treats in our Coffee House. Sink into the comfort of plush armchairs in a cozy pink-and-green space, designed to immerse you in the magic of rhubarb.

While you relax, little ones can dive into a host of free, rhubarb-themed activities running throughout half term week. From activity sheets to craft sessions, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!

Wednesday 19 February and Saturday 22 February | 10:30 am – 2:30 pm | Free Discover the art of printmaking in this hands-on workshop where families can create rhubarb-inspired artworks using inks made from rhubarb root!

Printing Photographs with Rhubarb
Sunday 23 February | 10:30 am – 2:30 pm | Free Step into our Darkroom and learn how to develop photos using a sustainable developer made from rhubarb to create your own unique artwork.

No booking is required for any of our workshops and our talented Maker Space artists will guide participants of all skill levels.

The Rhubarb Lounge will run whole week. It isn’t just about delicious food and fun – it’s an immersive celebration of culture, creativity, and community. Whether you’re learning about Wakefield’s proud heritage, crafting beautiful art, or simply enjoying a cozy space with family and friends, you’ll leave with warm memories and a deeper appreciation for this remarkable vegetable.
