Celebrate Halloween by stepping into the darkroom for an introduction to the mysterious world of cameraless photography.
On this one-day workshop, you’ll explore three alternative photographic processes: lumen printing, chemigrams and photograms. You’ll experiment with light, photographic chemicals and everyday objects to create unique images without using a camera, discovering the strange and unexpected results each process can produce.
You’ll start by learning the basic principles behind each technique before getting hands-on and trying them out for yourself. You’ll explore how the processes overlap, play with different materials and compositions, and build your confidence through experimentation.
Emily Ryalls will guide you through the processes in our professional Darkroom, sharing techniques, ideas and her knowledge of analogue photography.
No previous photography or darkroom experience is needed. This is a relaxed and welcoming workshop where you can get creative, try something new and embrace the magic and mystery of analogue photography.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have gained an introduction to three alternative cameraless photographic processes and created your own collection of experimental prints to take home.

Do I need to bring anything?
You may wish to bring botanicals, stencils, or glassware to work with for some of the processes, although all materials will be provided so this isn’t essential.
