Explore the art of pottery throwing on the wheel on this four-week evening course.

This course will run over four sessions on Wednesdays 30th April, 7th, 14th & 21st May 6:00pm – 8:30pm.

You will be guided through the process and techniques of creating pots on the wheel. You will experiment with trimming, the process of cutting away excess clay to create a smoother, cleaner finish, and with foot rings and handles to take your pieces to the next level.

At the end of the course, you can decorate your favourite pieces which will be fired and glazed in our ceramic studio. Pieces will be ready to collect three weeks from the end of the course.
Classes are kept small to maximise your time with your teaching artists, ensuring you can really nurture your skills.

Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for adults who are complete beginners or for those who wish to refresh their previous knowledge. You don’t need to feel confident in clay to start this course as all aspects of the medium are covered.

Do I need to bring anything?

All equipment and tools will be provided for you as well materials to explore all processes. We recommend wearing old clothes or bringing an apron in case you get a bit messy! If you have long hair please tie it back.

Booking Terms & Conditions

Workshop and course bookings can be cancelled and refunded (less a 10% administration fee) up until 7 days before the scheduled start date. Our workshops support the work we do as a charity, and because materials and equipment are ordered in advance, we regret that refunds cannot be offered less than 7 days before the workshop date.

Bookings cannot be transferred between courses however bookings can be transferred to another person in the event that you are unable to attend on the day. In the event that The Art House needs to cancel a workshop for any reason, for example due to tutor illness, your ticket will be refunded in full.
