We support those underrepresented and with marginalised backgrounds, and help build community cohesion. Our mission is to break down barriers and give a voice to those who have traditionally gone unheard in the arts. We do this through exhibitions, installations, commissions, residencies and engagement programmes that place artists and individual stories at the heart of the community.
We are a Gallery and Studio of Sanctuary, we run an Adopt-a-School programme, we offer an Arts & Health Programme and our Off-Site Programme directly supports the development and sustainability of social enterprises, charities and individual artists in Wakefield and across the UK. We offer a warm, safe and welcoming space to everyone who walks through our doors
We act as a catalyst and a platform to help change attitudes and the conversations about subjects that make us unique, including disability, race, gender and cultural background or experiences.
Your support helps:
– Artists who face barriers to practice
– Refugees and asylum seekers
– People with poor mental health
– Disable artists to access creative spaces
– School children

Our Commitment to Changemakers
We value your support and together we can help make positive change. So we promise to keep you updated about the impact of your donation and invite you to see some of the great work that happens too. We will:
– Keep you informed about our wonderful work, including behind-the-scenes information on our engagement programmes exciting first looks at new work artists have been able to create, and invites to openings and private views.
– Get to know each other, by inviting you to an annual gathering, and meeting other Changemakers from our community and The Art House Team.
– Share with you an annual impact report – letting you know what impact and differences we are making as Changemakers.
– Promise not take you support for granted. We’ll keep doing the work we’ve been doing since 1994, to help break barriers for people who need some support.
All Changemakers will also receive a limited edition badge to signify your support and involvement with The Art House.
