The Art House Introduces New Co-Executive Directors: An Exciting Step Towards Inclusive Leadership in The Arts

The Art House is excited to announce a transformative shift in its leadership model, embracing a collaborative approach with Co-Executive Directors. This new direction marks a significant evolution in the organisation’s governance, reflecting our values as a charity ensuring our commitment to inclusivity and collaboration, and that balanced leadership and community-driven decision-making remains at the heart of everything it does.

After years of dedicated service and leadership within the organisation, Lucy Norton and Damon Jackson Waldock step into these pivotal roles to foster a more representative model of leadership. Both bring their extensive experience, deep-rooted connections in Wakefield and in the wider Yorkshire community, and an unwavering commitment to TAH’s mission. Their appointment reflects a sustainable and forward-thinking strategy that strengthens TAH’s long-term vision while ensuring stability and continuity in 2025 and beyond.

Adrian Books, The Art House Chair of Trustees, says: This innovative leadership model not only reinforces our values of collaboration and accessibility but also positions TAH as an advocate for progressive arts governance. Damon and Lucy’s expertise, combined with their passion for fostering creativity and inclusivity, makes them the perfect fit to guide us into this exciting new chapter.”

By implementing this co-director structure, TAH is creating a more dynamic leadership team, one that is more representative and that ensures decision-making is enriched by diverse perspectives. As the UK’s cultural sector continues to evolve, TAH’s aims to set a powerful example for arts organisations nationwide, demonstrating that leadership can be both innovative and inclusive.
