Emma Bentley Fox, based in Yorkshire, is a socially engaged and trauma-informed artist and facilitator. They take a multidisciplinary, research-driven approach to their work, with their choice of medium emerging organically from their research and creative process. While their practice is often shaped by collaboration, photography—especially analogue techniques and working with personal and institutional archives—is at the heart of their art.
Bentley Fox’s work is all about fostering genuine connections. They create spaces for people to explore their innermost selves, be vulnerable, and experience joy and a sense of togetherness. In this context, photography becomes a tool to document these meaningful moments, capturing sparks of joy and authenticity. Bentley Fox sees image-making as a form of community-building, using collaboration to generate moments of humor, healing, and intimacy. Through their work, Bentley Fox aims to uplift voices that are often overlooked and imagine new, powerful futures. Themes of health, recovery, and wellbeing are woven throughout their practice.
During their time at The Art House, Bentley Fox will be working to develop their photography practice within our fully wheelchair accessible Darkroom.
