About the residency
Poet and essayist Sheena Hussain has been selected as the inaugural recipient of a writing residency partnership between The Art House and Corridor8. She will be developing a piece of creative writing throughout July, August and September 2021 that will be published by Corridor8 later in the year.
Hussain will be meeting with a range of artists during her residency, including fellow artists in residence and those based at The Art House full time. She will be exploring individual creative practices, as well as shared themes and processes.

I am hoping to shed new light on their creative pieces, by producing a written piece over the next 2 months, which will be published by Corridor8. The Art House is the perfect place for me to nurture my own art form.”

About the writer
Sheena Hussain is a British-born Pakistani poet, essayist and cancer advocate from the UK. A non-practising immigration lawyer who came to poetry after having received a cancer diagnosis. Subsequently, she self-published a collection of poems whilst recovering, titled Memories of a Poet, My Road My Recovery; her latest book includes Covid-19 Poems from a Pandemic. She is the founder of Poem: 99, a national children’s poetry competition.
She is widely published on platforms such as Porridge Magazine, Purse Slush, Truth Serum Press, Cambridge-Hall Poetry Journal, Samfiftyfour and elsewhere.
