Cat Scott is an artist based in Bradford who specialises in creating moments of curiosity and wonder, using STEM (science-technology-engineering-maths) processes, and wave phenomena (light, sound, liquids, and gases) to make kinetic sculptures, installations, and experiences. Despite working in male-dominated technical disciplines, she strives to break down barriers and promote equality through art as a universal language.
Scott will showcase her kinetic bubble installation, Inner Horizons, in our Tiled Gallery this autumn. The installation invites visitors to experience what it would feel like to be inside a bubble, exploring an inner landscape on a scale that’s impossible to experience physically. From the depths of the ocean to outer space, the installation prompts us to consider whether the universe itself is one giant bubble.
During the exhibition, Scott plans to hold a focus group with disabled individuals to explore and inform future prototypes of her work. She hopes to create works that are accessible, inclusive, environmentally responsible, and commercially tour-ready, starting with Inner Horizons as a foundation.
