We’re reopening!

Drop in for a visit, we can't wait to welcome you back from Monday 14 September

We are pleased [understatement of the century, ecstatic more like!] to announce that The Art House will reopen to the public on Monday 14 September.

This will be the first phase of our reopening, so for now, our shop, gallery and café will remain closed with a second phase planned for January 2021.

As community is at the core of what we do, it’s certainly been a strange few months without the usual friendly faces around the place.

Over the last few months we have focused our energies on investing in our artistic community; commissioning beautiful new benches by Urban Metalworks for outside our main entrance, and enhancing some of our spaces with murals by Mohammad Barrangi and Beth Morgan, new artwork by Helen Thomas and soft furnishings by Kirstie Williams, Ellie Way, and Jenna Lee Alldread amongst others.

We’ve also made some changes to our building, inside and out. Everything has had a lick of paint, the foyer is twice the size, the event space is bigger too and it even has doors on it now.

We know, we’re spoiling you!

But in all seriousness, we’re all looking forward to welcoming you back to enjoy our new and improved spaces. Whether you’re a studio holder, print maker, exhibition viewer, workshop taker or meeting room booker, it just hasn’t been the same without you.

Keeping safe, inspiring creativity

Amongst all the enthusiasm, the safety of visitors, staff and studio holders continues to be our top priority.

We’re using this first phase of reopening as a time to provide a calm, safe and welcoming space, open to all to take a break, eat lunch, browse our art books, sit and sketch or just feel a little more connected with the outside world.

We hope that the new open plan layout of our public areas and colourful outdoor seating will offer everyone a safe place to take time out and enjoy the sunflowers that have cropped up around the building.

Our Print Studio is now open to members and a new programme of workshops and courses will begin in late September. Meeting rooms will, once again be available to hire, including our new and improved event space – perfect for social distancing in style.

Our temporary opening times will be:

Monday – Friday, 10:00 – 16:00

Plan your visit

A range of measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of our studio holders, staff, and everyone who visits us.
