Since 2017, The Art House has partnered with the Royal Over-Seas League (ROSL) to support two international artists each year through dedicated residencies in Wakefield, UK.
This long-standing collaboration brings diverse global perspectives into the heart of our creative community, offering artists from around the world time, space, and support to develop their practice and connect with new audiences.
The ROSL x The Art House International Residency celebrates artistic exchange, experimentation, and cultural dialogue. It reflects both organisations’ commitment to supporting risk-taking creative practice and building connections that transcend borders.
This residency is delivered in partnership with the Royal Over-Seas League (ROSL), an organisation dedicated to international understanding and cultural exchange. Since 2017, this collaboration has brought talented artists from across the globe to The Art House, supporting them to develop new work and expand their professional horizons.

Key Information
- When is it open: Each year, the call-out for this opportunity usually opens in January.
- Residency type: Two selected artists will be invited to take a two-month residency at The Art House, and will have opportunities to visit and stay in London
- When: We can support a residency taking place throughout May and June, or July
- Who it’s for: Artists living and working outside of the UK in a commonwealth (or former commonwealth) country, the US/EU/EEA or Switzerland.
- Discipline: Open to artists working in any medium.
- What’s provided: Fully covered travel costs and visa costs; Living costs covered with a per diem; Support budget: £750 material, £250 travel in UL, up to a week’s stay in central London, and studio space and accommodation at The Art House.
- Free access (with technician support) to Print Studio, Ceramic Studio and Darkroom
- 1–2–1 coaching and mentoring with The Art House Programme team
