Explore how colours are extracted from plants, flowers and vegetables to create beautiful textures and patterns on textiles using bundle dying techniques.
Learn how to arrange different parts of flowers and plants on fabrics and prepare steam baths for bundle dying. You will work with natural fabrics (cotton, organic bambee silk) and use modifiers to shift colours of the dyed pieces. You’ll be guided through the process, a step-by-step with the guidance of our expert teaching artist.
The skills you gain from this workshop will allow you to continue developing your dyeing practice at home.

Who is the workshop for?
This course is suitable for adults who are curious about bundle dyeing techniques. Complete beginners are welcome to learn bundle dyeing skills from scratch, as well as natural dyeing enthusiasts who would like to explore a different technique.

Do I need to bring anything?
We will provide a selection of textile material swatches and natural resources, flowers, plants etc. If you have any small natural fabric pieces to try you may wish to bring these. We recommend you wear clothes which can get dirty or bring an apron. Gloves will be provided. You also may like to bring a notebook or sketchbook with you to take notes.
Course Booking Terms and Conditions
Workshop and course bookings can be cancelled and refunded up until 7 days before the scheduled start date. Our workshops support the work we do as a charity, and because materials and equipment are ordered in advance, we regret that refunds cannot be offered less than 7 days before the workshop date.
Please note that Eventbrite’s booking fee is non-refundable, as are any donations submitted alongside a ticket payment. Bookings cannot be transferred between courses however bookings can be transferred to another person in the event that you are unable to attend on the day. In the event that The Art House needs to cancel a workshop for any reason, for example due to tutor illness or if lockdown measures are put back in place your ticket will be refunded in full.
