This course will run over two sessions on Wednesdays 4 & 11 February 6:00-8:30pm.
Join our Darkroom Coordinator Emily Ryalls to find out more about film processing and black and white photography.
You will gain experience of processing your own roll of film, an understanding of how the chemicals react inside the developer tub and we’ll touch on the different effects of the development process.
In the second session you’ll transform your processed film into beautiful hand printed silver gelatin photographs, and explore black and white darkroom printing methods using our enlargers.
Class sizes are kept small to allow for a more one-to-one experience with your teaching artist. This allows you more focused time to spend on developing your skills.
Students must bring a roll of exposed black and white film, either 35mm or 120mm, which is ready to be processed.

Who is the workshop for?
This course is a mixed ability course for beginners, and those who’d like a refresher on dark room printing techniques.
Do I need to bring anything?
Students must bring a roll of exposed black and white film, either 35mm or 120mm, which is ready to be processed.
Be careful not to bring a roll of film which is a C-41 process, as this won’t be suitable for the session.

Booking Terms & Conditions
Workshop and course bookings can be cancelled and refunded (less a 10% administration fee) up until 7 days before the scheduled start date. Our workshops support the work we do as a charity, and because materials and equipment are ordered in advance, we regret that refunds cannot be offered less than 7 days before the workshop date.
Bookings cannot be transferred between courses however bookings can be transferred to another person in the event that you are unable to attend on the day. In the event that The Art House needs to cancel a workshop for any reason, for example due to tutor illness, your ticket will be refunded in full.
