Learn the process of designing and screen-printing a repeat textile pattern with designer and printmaker Ellie Way.
You will learn how to turn a simple pattern design into a repeating tile using traditional methods, no computer required!
Ellie will guide you through the process of exposing your hand-produced artwork onto screens, mixing your colour palettes and getting set up for printing. You will practice screen-printing your design in repeat to produce a larger textile sample to take home.
This is a great workshop for those who already have an understanding of screen-printing onto cloth and would like to expand their skills. This session is also suitable for beginners, so don’t worry if you have never screen printed onto cloth before – you will leave with necessary skills to become a proficient textile screen-printer.

Do I need to bring anything?
Examples of Ellie’s fabric samples will be provided as inspiration but participants are encouraged to bring any ideas and examples of pattern design to explore during the workshop. Basic materials for screen printing are included along with some small textile pieces to get you started. We advise bringing along some of your own natural fabrics to print on such as plain cottons or linens – approx 1 metre will be plenty to work with.
Please make sure you wear sensible footwear with covered toes in the print studio.
Booking Terms and Conditions
Workshop and course bookings can be cancelled and refunded up until 7 days before the scheduled start date. Our workshops support the work we do as a charity, and because materials and equipment are ordered in advance, we regret that refunds cannot be offered less than 7 days before the workshop date.
Please note that Eventbrite’s booking fee is non-refundable. Bookings cannot be transferred between courses however bookings can be transferred to another person in the event that you are unable to attend on the day. In the event that The Art House needs to cancel a workshop for any reason your ticket will be refunded in full.
