Upholstery for Beginners: Make a Footstool

With step-by-step guidance from your tutor, you’ll explore the fundamentals of upholstery, learning how to assemble your footstool frame, build up the padding and achieve a neat, professional finish. You’ll be introduced to the tools, materials and techniques used in modern upholstery, gain practical skills and an understanding of the process from start to finish.

No previous upholstery experience is needed. This workshop is a great introduction for anyone curious about learning a new craft, discovering the satisfaction of making something by hand or finding inspiration for future furniture projects.

By the end of the day, you’ll have your own unique 14-inch footstool to take home, along with a new set of practical skills and the confidence to explore upholstery further.

What to bring: Please bring 1 metre of upholstery-grade fabric of your choice. Your tutor will provide guidance on suitable fabrics before the workshop, so you can choose something that works well for your project. All other materials and tools will be provided.
