Penny Klepuszewska is an artist, born and based in Yorkshire. Her practice often reflects issues concerning contemporary life, our social environment and our conditions of living.
Living Arrangements is a project that investigates the UK’s ageing population. The artist brings attention to the idea that one in ten elderly people spend their lives utterly alone, often with deteriorating health and no family support to hand. She explores how the home, which is usually a place of shelter, can become an island of isolation.
End Part is a work that considers and explores the Protection of Property Department, who deal with the possessions of those who die alone. With no next of kin, it is left to them to deal with the evidence of unclaimed lives and the final traces of their human existence.
