Refugee Week

19 June 2023 - 25 June 2023

2023 is the 25th anniversary of Refugee Week; a time to celebrates the contributions of the UK’s refugee and asylum seeking community, and to raise awareness as to why people seek sanctuary. This year’s theme is compassion.

As the UK’s first Studio of Sanctuary, we are leading a series of events throughout Wakefield and surrounding areas to fill the week with family fun creative activities, which together celebrates the wonderful work of our community.

All events are free to attend and everyone is invited to come along and be inspired! Check out and download our Refugee Week timetable to find an event near you.

With thanks to Wakefield Museums and Castles, Theatre Royal Wakefield, Wakefield Libraries, and Refugee Council for their support.

Refugee Day

Refugee Day takes place on Tuesday 20 June. Pop down to The Art House anytime from 09:30–16:00 as we are inviting a number of local agencies down and throwing an open event for all to enjoy! Find out more about Refugee Week, meet diverse groups, explore an exhibition of work, and relax with a coffee and cake.

We’ll see you there.
