Membership Terms and Conditions

The Art House currently offers membership options for our Makers Spaces (Ceramics, Print Studio & Photography Darkroom).

Memberships commence from the date of purchase.
Ceramic Membership is set to auto-renew and is charged monthly. Our Print and Darkroom Memberships are charged annually, and last for a minimum period of 12 months.
Memberships can be cancelled at any time by requesting to cancel via email to our Maker Spaces Team.

All new members must first attend a health and safety induction with one of our technicians before they can use the facilities. Returning members who have not held a membership for more than 12 months must attend a refresher induction. By attending an open access session, members are consenting that they have read and understood these terms and conditions of membership, have completed an induction and understand the relevant health and safety procedures .

Membership is not available to anyone under the age of 16.
Members with health problems or who are pregnant should make this known to a member of staff so that recommended precautions can be advised.

  • Membership fees are currently as follows;
    • Ceramic Membership – £60 monthly / £45 monthly for students and recent graduates (no hourly usage fees)
    • Print Membership – £55 annually / £35 annually for students and recent graduates (£3.50 hourly usage fee)
    • Darkroom Membership – £120 annually / £60 annually for students and recent graduates (£7.50 hourly usage fee, includes developing chemicals)
  • Consumable materials in the Maker Spaces can be purchased from us on site, subject to availability.
  • Access to all membership benefits will be subject to the opening hours of The Art House. As standard, the building is closed between Christmas and New Year, Easter weekend, and most bank holidays. Members will receive a monthly timetable of activities and availability by email – please refer to this when booking.
  • All open access sessions must be booked in advance. Places for walk-ins cannot be guaranteed and priority is given to those who have already booked.
  • Members are not permitted to bring guests or helpers to open access sessions unless they are also an inducted member, for health and safety purposes. Carers and support workers are welcome, please discuss your requirements with us in advance.
  • Members must have a good working knowledge of the specific process/s the member intends to undertake. Anyone interested in developing these skills prior to becoming a member should consider the workshops and courses we offer.
  • The Art House facilities are not suitable for large scale or commercial editioning works. For larger and more complex artworks we recommend that members contact us in advance to discuss the requirements.
  • Membership fees are subject to review and change. Members will receive one month’s notice minimum of any planned changes. Fee increases will be applicable at the point of membership renewal.
  • The Art House accepts no responsibility for personal belongings left on the premises. Please ensure all personal belongs are taken with you. The Art House insurance policy does not cover members’ own equipment or artwork, please consider this when leaving work in the Maker Spaces.
  • The Art House is a safe and equal space for all. We expect all members to uphold the same values and treat other members, volunteers and staff with courtesy and respect. Discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated.
  • The Art House reserves the right to terminate any membership without refund should a member be found to be using unsafe practices or to be in breach of any guidance given, including our Equality and Diversity Policy.
