Between the Slime: Charley Hill, Lily Lavorato, and Madara Vimba

The Art House presents a sharing of works in progress developed during a month-long graduate residency by Charley Hill, Lily Lavorato and Madara Vimba.

The three artists will be showing works that respond to their time on residency in Wakefield.

This event coincides with Artwalk Wakefield – Wednesday 29 January 2020 which presents a diverse range of free exhibitions and events across Wakefield, open to all.

Artist bios

Madara Vimba
Madara Vimba is a live artist, focusing on interdisciplinary practices. She is interested in the boundaries between performance, dance, theatre and how those barriers can be invaded within live art. Vimba is developing new performance work whilst on residency.

Lily Lavorato
Lily Lavorato is a multi-disciplinary artist living and working in Leeds. Along with sculpting and drawing, her practice incorporates sound and video. Working collaboratively is also central to her practice, and she is a member of Leeds-based collective Party Mom Society. Lavorato is exploring bodily understandings of new places and imagined scenarios.

Charley Hill
Charley Hill is an installation artist working between 2D and 3D. Her work is often characterised by its abject or precarious appearance and incorporates a dark sense of humour. Hill has been working on large-scale drawings that integrate references from a wide range of sources and use humble materials to convey grandeur in the banal.
